American sterling silver porringer or baby bowl by the Kalo Shops, Park Ridge Illinois, c.1910. According to author Darcy Evon, Kalo started producing some metalwork in 1900, along with other crafts, and used the PARK RIDGE mark above only from 1909-1912. This fabulous, early Kalo porringer is 5" in diameter, 7" across the handle, 1 5/8" deep and weighs a substantial 182 grams or 5.9 ozs. Troy. The top of the tab handle is inscribed: Jean III. Inscribed as described above, the soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing. The excellent original condition and clear detail, with no removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
